AAIA website

Overview

A website designed for the AAIA charity to display educational news, promote yearly conferences, enable publication ordering with a members log-in.

This project started as a website modernisation, Two Thirds Design was tasked with re-designing and building a new website for the Association for Achievement and Improvement through Assessment.  This involved moving and reorganizing the existing content on to a sustainable web platform with a revised and simplified navigation.

Key technical challenges were to provide a restricted access area for AAIA members and a UI that enabled members to complete their annual membership renewal online that was compatible with AAIA Administrators workflow.

Over time additional features were incorporated, E-Commerce, a B2B members directory, membership notifications.

My Role

I was the technical lead on this project, as such I was responsible for much of the planning and execution of the project. I produced the initial WordPress theme, integrated the forums and build custom content types, plugins and code to stitch it all together.

Specification

The site was build on top of WordPress and bbPress with a bespoke theme, I wrote a custom plugin to allow members to register and submit membership applications, and allow membership access to membership areas.  Additional plugins were created to add a publications, and AGM/Regional minutes content types.

Later a bespoke B2B members directory was added and the  membership functionality was expanded to take online payments and online the entire membership process/administration.
