Bio

I graduated from the University of Birmingham where I studied a (BEng) in Computer Systems & Electronic, Electrical Engineering. University is where I first started to developer using HTML regularly for personal web site as part of my university course. As I developed more sites for uni projects and personal use, I progressed to using XHTML, PHP, CSS and SQL.

Despite the majority of my course revolved around computer programming, in June 2004 I found my self working as a web and interactive developer for a interactive media company in the heart of Birmingham city centre. As a result of my career development I learnt to use a variety of CMS and web application frameworks allowing me to build dynamic database driven web sites quickly, as well as taking a turn towards interactive media learning to code games, site and CD-ROM’s in both Flash and Director. I now take pride in using the HTML5 and CSS3 standards to build cross platform sites which are fully accessible in all of the major HTML engines.

• Web development using application frameworks like PEAR, SMARTY, ZooP, Laravel.

• Use of Microsoft Windows 9x/2000/XP and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook) to a high level.
• Experience running Linux in both desktop and server roles.
• Computer hardware and networking, with experience of building computers from the ground up, and setting up enterprise domain networks with both Windows and Linux platforms.

I am an avid movie watcher and regularly attend the local Odeon to view the latest Hollywood offerings across most genre and pretty much any quality of script/cinematography or watch my growing DVD collection on Plex.

I am also currently making an attempt to learn Portuguese and am looking forwards to putting my new found skill to the test next time were in Portugal.

I’ve taken up running in a vain attempt to stay fit and lose a little weight, It started off well and at one point I was running 12-18 km twice a week, I’m now back down to 2-3 km twice a week but the hope is to work back up to my former glory you can track my progress on facebook and twitter @geraintp.

I do on occasion get a chance to play the odd video game, whether it be on my XBOX , current favourites are Assassins Creed Black Flag and GTA5.
